Optimum oral healthcare depends upon optimum oral hygiene. In order to keep your teeth and gums clean, you will need to be using safe and effective cleaning utensils that can actively clean all areas of your mouth on a daily basis. Even though brushing is extremely effective for keeping your smile clean, it cannot reach all areas of your mouth. To help with your oral health care an interdental cleaner such as dental floss will be needed to clean between teeth.

For ideal oral health care, you will need to be flossing your teeth every single day. Although brushing is extremely impressive and important for keeping your smile clean, it cannot reach between teeth as flossing can. If you struggle using traditional shred-resistant threaded floss, try switching to an alternative interdental cleaner such as a water flosser. Whichever products you do use, make sure they are safe and effective for use, feature the ADA Seal of Acceptance, or are recommended by your dentist.

When you have selected your interdental flossing utensil, try to aim for flossing between 2 to 3 minutes every day. An ideal flossing session should include cleaning between every single tooth on all sides. In addition, you will want to clean the teeth in the farthest row back. If you’re using threaded floss, always make sure you are using a strand that is long enough to floss with a different section between each tooth. This helps prevent recontamination from occurring. Once you are done flossing, you are welcome to throw out the strand, so you can use a new one for each additional use.
