Dental emergencies can be quite scary, especially when you’ve chipped a tooth. However, no matter how terrifying it might be, it’s important to keep your cool and stay calm. To help you get through this situation, our Haws Family Dentistry dental team has some tips and information that can help you treat your tooth and your pain.

The first thing you should do is call our office at 435-734-9144 and schedule an emergency appointment as soon as possible. The sooner you see Dr. Jayson C. Haws, the better. One way you can improve the success of your treatment when you come into our office is to bring the pieces of your tooth with you. This means you need to save the pieces of your tooth and keep them in a safe place until your appointment.

Second, control the bleeding and reduce the swelling. First, control the bleeding by placing a piece of gauze pad to the area until the bleeding stops. If the bleeding fails to subside, replace the bloody pad with a new one and repeat this process until you come into our office. Second, reduce the swelling by icing outside the area for 15 minutes at a time. This should reduce the swelling as well as relieve your pain.
