Frequently Asked Dental Questions
Do you take my insurance?
Yes. As a courtesy to all of our patients, we file all insurance claims. Each insurance plan is unique, and coverage tables vary with in each plan, but we are proud to be considered a preferred provider with many networks. Keep in mind that if your insurance is considered out of network, we can still file claims for you, they just may collect and disperse covered items differently. With such a plan, we would still collect your estimated portions. Each insurance or dental benefit plan is different, but our front office is a great resource, and we are happy to help you in understanding the design and coverage of your specific dental plan.
How much is this going to cost me?
Our team is trained to help maximize your dental costs, and we are always looking for ways to hold down the cost associated with your dental treatment. When treatment planning, we do our best to save you money by providing early detection that is associated specifically to your dental needs. We share our knowledge by giving multiple treatment options in relation to your insurance coverage, so you can make the wisest investment for your dental health and avoid more expensive treatment later on. We are continually working to keep our treatment costs as low as possible and provide exceptional quality treatment with high-quality products.
Is this going to hurt me?
To avoid the possibility of discomfort, we offer and provide a comfort menu. We offer nitrous oxide in all of our dental operatories. We have massage chairs in each of our dental rooms. We provide Apple TV+, and you can watch all your favorite movies. Relax and enjoy a show to help keep your mind off the sounds and procedures. Dr. Haws has additional special techniques that can be used to help elevate additional worries. It is always our goal to make our patients feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible in the dental chair. For extreme anxiety, we offer prescription valium. Complete sedation is also available upon request. We work closely with a board-certified dental anesthesiologist, who works side by side with our dentist in putting our patients to sleep.
I have sensitive teeth. Will bleaching or whitening make my sensitivity worse?
Haws Family Dentistry offers a relatively new product that minimizes sensitivity when whitening.
Almost every professional teeth whitening product uses hydrogen peroxide and carbamide peroxide as active ingredients and contains volatile oxygen molecules. These molecules react to the presence of organic stains when they contact your tooth enamel, and they break the bonds that hold those stains to your teeth, restoring the natural white appearance of your enamel.
If you already have sensitive teeth, then it is very likely that the sensitivity may increase after teeth whitening treatment, so we recommend a number of steps to control and prevent whitening-induced sensitivity. These include using an anti-sensitivity toothpaste like Sensodyne with a soft-bristled toothbrush, rinsing with a fluoride mouthwash to rematerialize your teeth and resolve sensitivity. Ask about our whitening options and specific sensitivity recommendations at your next visit.
What is your cancellation policy?
We offer a wide variety of appointments (early and late) throughout various times during the week to accommodate all our patients’ schedules. Our staff works closely with you to make each appointment fit within your tailored schedule. We reserve this time with our dentist, hygienists and staff specifically for you. We understand that emergencies and health concerns may arise. For this reason, we work directly on a one-on-one basis with our patients who encounter these situations. Because we have reserved this time for you to be seen in the dental office, there is a fee associated with rescheduling or canceling your appointment within less than 48 business hours.
Can a general dentist perform BOTOX®?
Yes. Dr. Haws offers BOTOX® and lip fillers. Dentists, including Dr. Haws, who offer this service have undergone extensive training to learn how to use BOTOX as a cosmetic treatment option. BOTOX can also be used for a number of other purposes. Based on your specific needs, we may recommend BOTOX to reduce migraine headaches, promote a more youthful appearance or help treat a TMJ disorder.
Does your office offer Invisalign® or braces?
Yes. Orthodontic care is a big piece of maintaining good oral health. At Haws Family Dentistry, we offer traditional braces and Dandy Clear Aligners for our patients who want straighter teeth. Dandy Clear Aligners offer a similar product to Invisalign®. We have multiple options if you are considering braces. Talk with Dr. Haws, who can evaluate what the best option is for you. We also offer traditional orthodontics. Whatever option you choose, there is always a savings in choosing to have orthodontics placed here at our office.
Does Dr. Haws offer dental implants?
Yes. Dr. Haws has undergone additional specialized training for placing and delivering dental implants to his patients. Our team utilizes the latest dental technology with cone beam 3D imaging in order to get a detailed view of the patient’s oral anatomy. Dr. Haws provides single implants, full-arch implants, and implant-supported dentures. Replacing a missing tooth or teeth will not only help preserve the proper alignment and bone density of your surrounding teeth and jaw, but can also restore the health, function and beauty of your smile. Dental implants are a particularly good option to do this, as they are designed to feel, look and function just like your natural teeth would.
I dislike my front teeth. Do you offer cosmetic dentistry?
We provide cosmetic dental treatments to help our patients achieve the smile they have always dreamed of! Our dentist and team will examine your smile and tailor a treatment plan specifically for you. We will recommend treatments, such as dental veneers or crowns, that we think will be most beneficial and help you feel confident in your smile. Often, we use dental veneers to eliminate imperfections you may notice in your teeth to help you achieve the smile you desire!
Does your team offer root canal treatments?
Yes. Unless there is a particularly complicated case, Dr. Haws is happy to offer endodontic therapy and root canal treatments in our office in order to save and restore an infected tooth. The process will start by taking a panoramic image of your mouth to identify any injury and see how far the decay has reached. If infection has reached past the outer enamel to the tooth pulp or nerves, we will likely recommend root canal therapy. Dr. Haws will help you decide what treatment options are right for you.
Can your team remove wisdom teeth?
Yes. If you are ready to have your wisdom teeth removed, either to solve dental problems caused by an impacted third molar or to prevent issues from occurring in the future, we are here for you! Our team will take a panoramic image of your mouth to help you decide when the best time is to have your wisdom teeth removed.
