As you transform your smile, it is extremely important to clean your teeth and braces as much as possible, especially after you eat a meal or snack. That way, you will go throughout your day with a sparkling smile and you will reduce your chances of developing tooth decay. It is also vital to stay consistent with your oral hygiene routine, which should include brushing every morning and every night, flossing before bed, and rinsing your mouth with mouthwash daily.

Cut up the foods that could damage your braces:
Braces can easily break if you bite into foods like apples, pears, hamburgers, and corn on the cob, so please cut these foods into bite-sized pieces before you eat them. This will keep your treatment process on the right track and keep your appliance in tip-top shape.

Only chew on food:
If you have a habit of chewing on pens, pencils, ice, and straws, it is best to quit. These habits can damage your appliance, which will result in more time spent at the orthodontic office. Make sure the only things you chew on are edible.

Don’t push your teeth out of line:
Your braces are pushing and pulling on your teeth every minute of every day, but there are things you might do that can actually throw the process off course, like biting your nails or playing with your elastics. So, if you wish to complete your treatment as quickly as possible, let the braces guide your teeth and kick these nervous habits.

Don’t eat foods that are bad for your braces:
It is very important that you avoid eating foods that are bad for your braces. These foods include chewy candy, sugary foods, popcorn, nuts, gum, toffee, and cookies. Eating these products can break your appliance and create tooth decay, which will alter your treatment plans and the health of your smile.
