To help you know more about dentures, our team at Haws Family Dentistry is thrilled to give you the answers to these frequently asked denture questions:

What is the difference between complete and partial dentures?
Complete dentures are meant to replace all of the teeth in your smile. They generally cover your gums and suction to the roof of your mouth to stay in place. Partial dentures are meant to replace just a few of your missing teeth while you still have natural chompers remaining. You would simply place the denture into the gap and clasp it to the remaining natural teeth that lie on both sides.

What do dentures feel like?
Dentures may feel a bit bulky and uncomfortable at first, but that is completely normal. Once your cheek muscles and your tongue become used to the appliance, your denture will feel natural and comfortable. There is also a chance that you might experience soreness and tenderness, but it will go away with time.

How will dentures make me feel?
With some practice, your denture will make you feel confident and proud once again! However, when you first start using the appliance, talking and chewing might be a bit difficult. To fix that, all you need to do is eat small, soft foods and say difficult words out loud as much as possible.

How often would I wear dentures?
At first, you may be asked to wear your dentures 24 hours a day. This will help your mouth become used to the appliance. Then, once time passes, you will only need to wear the denture during the day. You will remove it right before you go to bed.
